Healthy · Affordable · Fair · Sustainable · Resilient

The LA County Office of Food Systems was established as a directive of the LA County Board of Supervisors, and created through an official partnership agreement between Los Angeles County and local philanthropic organizations. The Office is dedicated to cultivating a fair, resilient, and healthy food system for all County residents. We function as an innovation hub for the County, collaborating with a diverse network of stakeholders to address food system challenges across LA County.

We envision a stronger and healthier LA County where communities have sufficient, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food supplied by a resilient and sustainable food system.

  1. Improve affordability of healthy foods

  2. Increase equitable access to healthy foods

  3. Build market demand and consumption of healthy foods

  4. Support sustainability and resilience in food systems and supply chains

Our Goals:

These goals do not encompass all that needs to be done to achieve an equitable food system from farm to fork. They are complementary ideals to help navigate the journey and are recognized for their complexity and intersectionality with economic, workforce, land use, and other goals that are included within this framework.
